Message of Salvation
A FREE Gift. Now that is Good News! You may stop reading when you learn that the free gift is salvation through Jesus Christ. Maybe because you have already accepted this free gift and you are good to go. But before you go I want to share something with you. Contrary to popular belief and what has been taught to many – salvation is not a one time confession of belief and you’re done – it’s a process! 1 When we confess that we are sinners and that we believe that He died to save us, and we invite Him into our hearts, we are born again but we’ve only taken the first step. We must continue to show our belief in Him and what He did for us in our daily walk with Him. Salvation is the process that occurs as we allow Him to change and transform us from the inside out. The process of changing our thoughts, our minds and our hearts until we are the likeness of Him – this is not a quick easy fix. It is a lifelong process. As soon as we are not actively seeking Him in this transformation, we have stopped the process of being saved.2 The term backslide is often used to describe what happens when we stop moving forward in God. Please know, if we are not moving forward in this process, we will most certainly begin to move backwards. Your adversary and your flesh will most assuredly see to that. Some doctrines teach “Once Saved, Always Saved” but this is a lie that satan would have you to believe. He knows that salvation is a process, and that there will be many tests and trials along the way. His snares will play a part in some of those tests and trials. Our flesh will not like it, and will say to us “Hey you believe in God, that’s enough, you don’t have to live your life according to His WORD to be saved.” However, the Bible says that once you start this process, if you turn back, and don’t continue the process forward, you won’t be fit for Heaven in the end. 3
Some believe that God sacrificed His only Son so that we can say “I believe Jesus died for me” and leave it at that. That nothing else is required of us, other than to make a symbolic gesture by water baptism. If this is where our belief in salvation ends, then we cannot go forward in the salvation process. If we believe the Word of God that tells us that Jesus died to save us, then we must also believe the Word of God that says we owe Him our minds and our bodies,4 that says we can have abundant life,5 and faith to move mountains,6 and that we have power over the enemy.7 Believe that there is power in His Word and that we have access to that power.8 Many Believers believe there is a God but they don’t really believe His Word can change us or the circumstances in our lives. What we believe is always evident by our actions. Our actions speak much louder than our words do, and if there is no action connected with a belief then the belief, in all reality is not there.9 Let’s say someone told you they deposited an unlimited amount of funds in a bank account for you and handed you a debit card and told you that you could not check the balance (verify the funds) but you can use the card to make purchases. Much like God’s Word – too good to believe, right? You may start off with a couple of small purchases just to test it out, but when you realize there is actually money in the account, your purchases become bigger and bigger. You are taking action based on your belief. The point, if we believe we have something at our disposal to use that can change our lives, we will use it. That is how God knows if we really believe how much He loves us and what His WORD says. Because even though we have no proof for ourselves that it is true when we start this walk – we test it, then as He shows Himself real and true – which He will – over time, we draw on it more and more until no one can tell us that it is not true because we have experienced it for ourselves. So even when things don’t happen as we would like, or prayers go unanswered, we continue with Him because we know He and His Word are true.
There is a song by Casting Crowns which contains the lyrics “So I’ll stop living off of how I feel and start standing on Your truth revealed.” If what you have read here is ringing true in your Spirit and you are ready for the kind of change stated in those lyrics – let Him know. Whether this is your first time or you are re-dedicating your life, in your own words, confess and pour out what’s in your heart. Tell God that you believe He gave His Son Jesus to die for your sins.10 Tell Him that you know He paid a mighty high price for your salvation and you are ready to live your life intimately connected to Him and His Word. A life that honors the sacrifice that He made for all of us. Your heart-felt words are all that is required. God’s arms are open wide! You will find that this free gift of salvation is really not free at all – it will cost you your will, your way, your plans, your life. But because what you will gain in return is so much more valuable – in the end it doesn’t cost anything at all – it truly is a FREE GIFT!
If you made the decision just now to follow Christ for the first time or to re-dedicate your life as a born again Believer, and you do not belong to a church family, I admonish you to begin praying so that God will lead you to one. The right one. As soon as you made the decision to follow Christ, satan was already busy with a plan to destroy you and to thwart any spiritual growth in you. Not every church will teach you bible principals and how to live a life pleasing to God. Please, prayerfully seek God about where to attend. He will lead you to the right place if you are honestly seeking Him. The decision made today is just the first step in a lifelong journey of faith and trusting God and you will need support and teaching in order to grow in the Spirit so that you can begin to live a victorious, fruit-bearing life, and so that God may use you to be a blessing to others! If you live in, or are visiting Indianapolis IN, you will certainly be most welcome at Greater Love International Church and Revival Center. Visit Dial-A-WORD for church address and details.
